Serving Size Guidelines

When you know a few simple guidelines, making sure you have plenty to go around becomes a piece of cake...sheet cake, that is!

The following are guidelines of quantities for a party for 8:

Sheet Cakes:

1/4 sheet cake 8" x 12" = 24 servings if cut 2" x 2"
OR 16 servings if cut 2" x 3"


1/2 Sheet cake 12" x 16" = 49 servings if cut 2" x 2"
OR 32 servings if cut 2" x 3"


Full Sheet cake 16" x 24" = 96 servings if cut 2" x 2"
OR 64 servings if cut 2' x3"

Round Cakes:

8" Round Double Cake = 8 servings

Ice Cream:

1/2 Gallon = 16 - 4 oz servings
1 Gallon = 32 - 4 oz servings

Beverages:

1 Gallon = 8 - 16 oz servings
1 Gallon = 16 - 8 oz servings
1 Gallon = 21 - 6 oz servings

Chips:

2 oz per person = 1 lb for 8 guests

Dip:

1 oz per person = 8 oz for 8 guests

Appetizers:

4 to 6 per person. For a group of 8 - 1 to 2 kinds is fine.

Cheeses:

3/4 lb. = 8 - 1 1/2 oz servings

Luncheon Meats:

1 1/2 lb. = 8 - 3 oz servings

Bread/Rolls:

Bread 3 slices per person = 24 slices for 8 guests
Rolls 2 per person = 16 per 8 guests

Salads:

4 oz per person = 2 lb per 8 guests
